Peter MacKay is a disgrace. He’s a mouthpiece in the Conservative Party that is attempting to advance anti-democratic ideas. How dare he threaten the people of Newfoundland and Labrador with no consideration from a Conservative government if they don’t elect Conservatives! Whichever party is elected into power must listen to the representatives of a region no matter the MP’s political affiliation.
Instead, MacKay is showing his Conservative anti-democratic stripes. Just as in B.C. where the Conservatives tried to appoint a “liaison to Parliament”, again they are saying they will ignore the democratically elected representatives of Canadians — if they aren’t Conservative MPs. This is out right blackmail from the former PC Party leader!
I think MacKay should stick to his knitting in Nova Scotia, and stop threatening the people of Newfoundland.
“”I’m the regional minister for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island — you don’t want a mainlander representing you here [in] Newfoundland and Labrador,” MacKay said.
“You got to have a member sitting at the caucus table, in cabinet.”"
Or what, MacKay? Or what?! More intimidation perhaps?
I think Elizabeth May’s job to get elected in Central Nova, just got a bit easier today.

Nottawa noticed something amusing that I did too.
Stageleft also thinks this threat will backfire on the Conservatives.

Saskboy…..I hate to ruin your day but I checked on the most recent poll in Central Nova and Dizzy Lizzy is getting smoked by the “Disgraceful” Peter Mackay….he is ahead by 25%…….that’s 25%…with 7 days to go!!!!
You should ask to borrow a copy of the book that Jack Layton’s been reading….”The Magic of Thinking Big”……maybe Lizzy did read it and it all went to her hips?

Mooner, you’re not ruining my day. Yes May’s race is a bit of a long shot with the NDP working against her, but I really doubt the gap will be more than 10% on election day, if May doesn’t pull off the upset.

I was wondering who would pick up on that old chestnut. I hope he’s refrained from referring to Ms. May’s gender in a negative way so far in the ridings’ debates. The National covered the showdown a little bit, but I want to see if the debates are on YouTube somewhere.

Whooee! I hear-tell our gal Lizzie gave big Mike Duffy a dressin’ down on live TV. There’s a little bit out there.

Lizzie’s sure got herself a longshot, no two ways. That ain’t too much different from other Greenies who are mostly running 4th with a few exceptions. I figger come election day, a fair number of Central Nova Libs’ll get out and vote ABC and mostly, they’ll vote fer the gal I adore.
I was over to the Caledonia all candidates’ meetin’ last night. Yeow! They crammed ‘em in tight an’ there was some hot blood. There’s a Native occupation of a development site for 2 an’ a half years, now. The townsfolk is dang testy an’ they got a big champeen in a guy name o’ McHale who’s runnin’ as an independent against the do-nuthin’ Diane Finley. I’d like to find time to write up a boog on it but I’m dang busy with my knittin’.
Our Green candidate got booed fer standin’ up fer the UN Declaration of Rights of Indigenous People. I don’t reckon we Greenies won too many votes in that there Legion hall last night. Too bad. Principles is important. Big problem is the fed’s been tryin’ to sluff it off as a provincial issue but it all goes back to a hunnert an’ somethin’ year old treaty disagreement.
