“Life and Debt - Globalization and Jamaica” [6/10] I watched this after seeing it on The Galloping Beaver. It explains some of the root causes of Jamaican poverty. Food security is something Canadians should be very concerned about as well. I don’t see most of our political parties taking the issue as seriously as I do.

Last night I watched “Juno” [8/10], a quirky movie about teen pregnancy. It has really quirky music in it as well.

Life and Debt is a very good documentary. It does a very good job about explaining the way in which free trade is used in an opportunist and ultimately economy destroying manner by the economically more powerful. But beyond that the documentary also does a nice job at suggesting some of the reasons why there exists an ontological gulf between the black new world experience and the white new world experience.

The part about not being allowed to bring food to work, was pretty disturbing in itself.
