Just sit back and watch the other parties have a conniption fit over the Greens breaking into the political scene in an undeniably significant way this week. For the NDP in the blogosphere, Wilson joining the Greens from being an Independent MP and former Liberal, is a sign that Elizabeth May is too Liberal or maybe unethical, or a Progressive Conservative.
For libertarians, May is either too conniving or controlled, or too out of control. Others think she is just loopy or Liberal in Green clothing. And some even think that by doing something that hasn’t been done by a party since the 1993 election (accepting independent MPs into a new party to gain seats in the House {the Bloc did this}) that she’s conducting politics as usual instead of playing the crooked system to make the game fair.
The Conservatives are so confused, they aren’t sure what party she’s in. They must lose count after trying to remember if they are PC, Reform, CRAP, CA, or Conservative this year. The media, like CTV, loses track too, so maybe it is complicated.
When a funny talkin’ Green blogger from Ontario makes more sense than a half dozen of the top political bloggers combined, it’s an interesting week indeed.

Speaking of it being easy being green, I rescued an old TV for someone on Saturday and hooked it up for them in their nursing home. I recycled my neighbours’ cardboard, and took a big box of their unwanted, kids hockey equipment to a second hand sports store. Then I picked my supper from my garden, and cooked it up with local farm raised hamburger. I also rescued a table and chair from an uncertain future, and they are being picked up tomorrow to head to a new home. I lost points for using my car for the chores, and muttering at myself for not filling up when gas was $1.319 instead of $1.389 (up for the long weekend). It was a fun “recycle day” in any case.

As I’ve seed previously, I’ll take her more seriously when someone manages to detach her lips from Stephane Dion’s ass.

Haha…that idea that she is aliberal is simply pulling the political wool over your own eyes. She’s way to straight talkin’ to be a Liberal Party hack. When she was on Jogn Gormley Live here, I phoned up and asked her what the party’s position on legalizing cannabis was because I had heard the left wing nutjob Jack Layton morph a Saskatchewanesque answer before.
Jack Layton spouted off something about securing ports of entry and getting tough on organized crime. Who could blame him? he’s a spineless politician and he was answering questions from Sask’ residents.
I phoned up when May was on the program and asked basically the same thing. I was surprised to hear an unapologetic answer about the Greens supporting legal weed.
No…I can’t support her because I consider myself a libertarian and I find her distasteful for reasons other than what Sask Boy listed. But do I think she’s a liberal hack? Nope. The only thing she’s convinced me of by co-operating with the liberals is that she’s willing to make alliances to further the goals of her own party.
And really, if the NDP rejected her outright as they did, where do you think she would go next for collboration and compromise? The conservatives? Uh..no.

Well put, Saskboy.

I’m told by another Green that the National is asking people tonight if the Greens should be in the debate. It sounds like they are trying to move the goal posts on us again! Please tell them they stink, or what you think here :

Whooee! Thankee kindly fer them kind words, Sasky. I just watched Lizzie may on the National. They didn’t do any askin’ of the genpop about her eligibility to participate in the debates but they did have a clip of Lizzie sayin’ the Broadcast Consortium would let her in or we’ll take ‘em to court.
A Greenie from up in Caledon had a good blog post at greenparty.ca:
Ardie’s on the money a hunnert per cent’s worth, sez I.

Yes, Ard is. And the Broadcast cartel has shown no reason to trust them not to move the goal posts again, so we’ll have to keep the pressure on. Democracy does not come easily, and it’s a lesson Greens have been getting an active lesson in the last few elections.
