I was considering leaving this mostly unfounded jab fall by the wayside, but I see Dr. Dawg has responded eloquently to it already. I just would like to point out though, that one week we’re “self-centered bigots” for not knowing something took place, and the next week we’re supporters of “fringe anarchists” and “paranoid fabulists” because what we should have known according to Robert, actually didn’t happen (again according to Robert) because the person who recently pointed it out is Mr. Annett, “and we can’t let him make a mockery of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.”
So Robert, which is it? You can’t cut both ways, just to suck up to Kate’s crowd. Because that’s how this comes across, at least as much as your probably sincere worry that further investigations will somehow delay the compensation already settled upon. Seems easy enough to pay the settlements due, and if there’s further injury proved, then to pay again to the families further injured. Bring on an investigation.

From what I see in Robert’s comments, his point is that ignorance leads to the naivety that leads to being an Annett (insert whatever fringe idiot of the day happens to catch the attention of CBC) groupie.
Twenty five to thirty years from now a fresh crop of wide-eyed and bushytailed young lefties will be at the ready to lap up the next round of “genocide” screaming cultists and will start demanding an investigation. This scam artisty has been going on now since the early 1970s.
There have been investigations and compensation schemes have already been implemented. And because it worked, there’s already a well developed tool kit at the ready to ensure scam artisty continues on well into the next generation or two. I’m fairly certain that if these “mass graves = genocide” claims do lead to “investigations” by way of exhumations, there will be several sites under Indian control which will be suddenly declared sacred burial grounds where no such exhumations will be allowed, but which will nonetheless be used to accuse the next generation of non-natives of being responsible for genocide. And so it goes. On and on and on…

Louise; Are we really at fault for not knowing about things that happened before we were born, that had no effect on us, when no one told us, nor was it ever suggested to look into them? I have a lot to read right now; I have 6 textbooks sitting on my desk, and that’s just a start for this month. Should I be reading other things? What the hell?

No, you can’t be blamed for not knowing what went on prior to your arrival on this earth, or even before you fully mature intellectual capacities. But that was kind of my point during the original discussion on Saskboy’s blog. Despite long, detailed explanations, the presentation of lots of facts, etc., some people, Saskboy among them, chose not to maintain healthy dose of skepticism, but rather chose to swallow it, lock stock and barrel. That’s exactly what the scam artists want you to do.
