Just watch out for planes up there, because blinding a pilot isn’t cool. But creating lightning would be, if you’re inside a Faraday cage.

Doesn’t sound dangerous at all. A Faraday cage is the safest place to be in a storm. I think it might even beat being underground, since a cage wouldn’t have to trap someone in a flood.
