My friend 1337 Hax0r is considering putting $1000 at stake, if the Liberal Party of Canada brings down the Conservative government in less than one month from the ‘wager’. What more can a blogger do at this point? The Cadman bribery scandal continues to go unpunished, and we’re left with a government content to let Canadians languish (or die) in foreign jails, and claim $1200 of taxable income is enough to cure child poverty.
If Canadians don’t start caring a lot more about having a good government, we’re in for a lot worse. History has shown that to be the obvious outcome of an apathetic and unempowered people. And I can’t think of better adjectives to describe the Liberals right now than apathetic, and unempowered.

You would feel bad too, if you read the Globe and Mail today, saying all about their woes , and Dions’ in Quebec. I don’t blame them with this mess..we would never win in an election, not even a minority..something has to be done, and, sorry, Dion is failing someplace, badly.There is barely anyone nominated for an election, if you can believe this one!

This is what I find funny. The liberals are constantly being described as in turmoil, split down the middle, going nowhere. yet we tie with the conservatives who are described by the media as running a tight ship, have managed to do what they wanted, etc, etc.
Does no one else find this a little strange?
Is it that no one expects much from the tories so whatever it does people clap like they do for a baby that didn’t spit up on itself for the first time? Or is the media quite horribly conservatively biased?

So is it better for the Liberals to fight an election on Harper’s terms? Clearly it’s better to take a few lumps and attack when you’re ready, this is basic stuff here.
I’m sure Dion would like some time to debate the Conservatives in the House of Commons with Bob Rae and Martha Hall-Findlay as part of his team as well. Conservatives should be afraid.

Annie, Dave, this is what I was talking about. A spine is needed. The arms and legs aren’t doing what the brain should be telling them to do.
Think about what Jay said. If the Liberals (and other parties) can’t beat The Harper Party now, when he’s implicated in a bribery scandal, has no child poverty plan, and has embarrassed our country on the world stage, and has an innocent Canadian languishing in a Mexican jail while his star beauty queen Minister parties kilometers away and ducks the media, when is going to be a better strategic time? Holy jeepers, if you can’t bring down a PM who is on tape saying “financial considerations” about buying an MPs vote, this country is in VERY SERIOUS DOO DOO! Who gives a pooh about the Liberals chances in that situation. They are just the ones holding up the charade that everything is fine.

I firmly believe that the Liberals are much stronger now with Rae and Hall-Findlay and I think it’s important for Dion and the Liberals to showcase them a little before an election.
At the end of the day, this is about the Liberals defeating Stephen Harper and if we take some knocks in the meantime, so be it.
It reminds me of the story of the two bulls sitting at the top of a hill…

It would be wrong to put too much stock into the temporary vicissitudes of polls. The other week, they were supposedly indicating that “Cadman Affair” had little to no resonance with the public. Once again, the Conservatives have managed to obfuscate and muddy the waters so much on that matter; nobody really knows which end is up.

RT, people know it when you show them the Criminal Code, and play Harper’s recording, with him admitting saying it in the House. What are the Liberals hoping for? Good luck catching him on audio tape AGAIN doing something MORE illegal.

Nobody cared about the Cadman issue because it was a non-story which the Liberals had been sitting on for some time. Who says Canadians do not care? Simply because they do not vote does not automatically mean they do not care. Canadians could be happy with the government they have or realize that nothing was going to change in the by-elections.
