The spring thaw is underway in Regina. The streets are mostly clear where there isn’t much shade. I don’t have any new photos from the past week, but here’s one from autumn a few years back.

- This tall thing took 2nd place in a contest of about 70 people around Canada. I think it was 70 anyway… maybe next year it will be 700.

Last night I watched “Scream” [5/10] for the first time ever. Having seen “Scary Movie” before, I had a hard time taking it seriously. I lose more movie watching opportunities by seeing the spoofs before the actually films. That happened with Hamlet, as I grew up watching Wayne and Schuster, and as a result had Hamlet completely spoiled by the Shakespearian Baseball game skit. When he holds up the skull and contemplates death, I saw a catchers mask in his hand. And when Barrymore got stabbed, I thought a breast implant was supposed to pop out like in the spoof.

I saw a housefly on the wall *outside the bunker the other day while having a smoke and a coffee…. as sure a sign of spring as the willows I saw budding outside my daughters apartment.
I’m keeping my eye on the southern sky, as soon as I see that first goose headed north I’ll know it’s for sure.

I won second place in the sunflower growing contest! My 135″ monster plant did the job, and was resoundingly beat out of first place by a 157″ super-monster plant. I celebrated by reading more of The Da Vinci Code, and biking 12km today.
