We all have our own goals we’d like to achieve in life. For some people, known as “bloggers”, one of those goals may be to have a popular and well read cache of websites. Some people blog to tell others they are wrong. Still, others start out with one intent, and as the days/months/years go by, they adapt their blog into fulfilling some other role.
I have a theory: The only bloggers that don’t change their writing intent and style as the years wear on, are bloggers that have given up blogging.
That of course assumes that you can call a former blogger with a dead blog, a blogger still. Is not blogging, a type of blogger? Is an abandoned blog, a style of blog?

Have I given up blogging only after 4 months then?

I think an abandoned blog is a style of blog, if someone still maintains it enough to prevent it from being taken over by spam or hackers. Like the bereaved people I know who blog their way through a crisis, in the immediate aftermath of a death they need to write a lot, then after a few years, they need it less.
I know a number of sites that are maintained for their memorial status to provide others with a way of getting information, research or even providing inspiration to others who come after them. I also know of several bloggers dedicated to blogging about personal things so that they can get support from others. Cause sometimes, especially in rural areas, this is impossible in real life.
Or with a rare disease.
One example? http://brainhell.blogspot.com/
BH died a little while ago of ALS and he blogged all the way through it, describing everything. Technically he is no longer blogging but as long his amazing site lives, then he lives on. And maybe we can all learn from him. I know I’ve learned a lot.

Huffb, your style HAS changed though. Last time this year you were strictly a “blog commenter”. As the years go on, you’ll find things change, even if you don’t intend for them to.
Aurelia, if the comments are moderated/maintained I don’t consider that actually abandoned. It’s more like a cemetery with a groundskeeper. No pun intended for the poor late BH blogger.
