Holy cow, where did this blog come from?
Yarn Harlot won Best Blog at the Canadian Blog Awards for 2007!
I hadn’t even heard of Stephanie’s blog before the CBAs, and that’s one reason why I made sure the awards happened again this year. Last year the political blogosphere was shocked to learn that Raymi the Minx was a vote drawing powerhouse, even though she doesn’t talk about politics. (What??? A blog that doesn’t have politics? Is that even possible? ;-) I think the conventional logic was that if Kate’s Small Dead Animals blog was in a competition, it was over — Mark down a win for the dead gopher. However, the CBA’s results from the last two years paint a different picture of the Canadian blogosphere. Political blogs are a minority.
Mike’s Bloggity Blog Blob, and Daveberta were big winners tonight also. I know Mike used Facebook campaigning to his advantage in the voting rounds, and it apparently paid off big time with 5 award buttons (not all for first place, but still remarkable)!
Friday, before work in the evening, I’ll try to get some more of the numbers out to the stats-curious types in blog land. Detailed results by email may be Saturday or later.

I found this contest winner on Fark. Weth is my hero now. But I’m not going to copy his packrat style :-)
Also from Fark, you can name a coming GLAST satellite.

I have to admit that Raymi’s “defeat” surprised me too… and I like the way you tactfully avoided mentioning SDA’s “fans” saying how the FIX was IN and how a certain political spectrum had skewed the blogsphere… but that’s for another day.
It was a good mix this year in the awards… and it’s nice to see Stephanie win!

Holy moly, over 700 comments on a single blog entry - from only yesterday at 3 p.m.! That would demolish the entire life cycle of my own ex-page, probably by 3:30 ;)

“Political blogs are a minority.” –Duh.
Frankly, you seem to be one of the few political bloggers who notices others, so I can’t be too hard on you Saskboy, but honestly, it is getting a bit tiring to see how shocked political bloggers are that some people get read more than them.
I do find it interesting that you are pretty much the only blogger on Liblogs, etc. who has figured out feed subscriptions, and finally realized that counting clickrates, never actually touches the vast majority of who reads you.
Carry on…
