If you’re going to be delayed by computer problems, why not hold your business meeting by video conference. At least then, when the computer goes down you lose some time, instead of your luggage as well.
In case you’ve been living under a rock with your eyes closed, you’ll know that the 2007 Saskatchewan Roughriders became Grey Cup Champions on Sunday. The party for the Western Final was at the airport, but this time don’t go there. You can join the crowd at Taylor Field (Mosaic Stadium) at 3:00 PM for the cold celebration.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders will return from the Grey Cup in Toronto on Monday afternoon and there will a celebration held at Mosaic Stadium to welcome the Green and White home.
The team will be bused from the Regina Airport tarmac directly onto field level at Mosaic Stadium at approximately 3 pm. Fans are invited to fill the stands for the program which will include an introduction of the team and a short program.
Fans can access the stadium through the West Gates which will open at 2 pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
WHAT: Roughriders return from Grey Cup
WHEN: Monday November 26th – 3 p.m.
WHERE: Mosaic Stadium
Note – Fans are urged not to travel to the Regina Airport as the team will be loading the buses on the tarmac and not be entering the main airport.
Don’t forget your ski pants. It’ll be a cold one, but a day to remember.
- I heard somewhere that there’s a parade on Tuesday planned?
What an excellent second half that was.
Riders defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-19.
I’m watching the Cup being walked around the SkyDome now, as the Riders enjoy their first Grey Cup victory since 1989. I was a little kid last time, and this time I’m going to Albert St., and the party at Taylor Field tomorrow!
3 interceptions from Johnson is a Grey Cup record. The party here voted him the Warrior of the Game on CBC’s site by the third quarter. Dinwiddie’s favourite receiver was on the wrong team!
I noticed what looks like a Snowbirds sticker on the bottom of the base of the Grey Cup, does anyone know what that’s about? I saw a Snowbird standing with the Mounties guarding the cup. Perhaps it’s like the lucky Loonie under the ice at the 2002 Olympics? Moose Jaw conspired to ensure the Cup got into the hands of Schultz?
Speaking of conspiracies, how’d they get those “2007 Rider Grey Cup Champion” hats so quickly? How’d they know the Riders would win???
;-)
Lenny Kravitz was pretty good as a half time show.
It’s been a season to remember. Blackout Bowl, and the Labour Day Run are included in this montage. From everyone who bleeds Green, GO RIDERS GO! Photos are from all corners of south and central Saskatchewan.
Music:
Bust the Cats - K105 recorded in 1989.
I Love a Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbitt
Green Is The Colour
Last Saskatchewan Pirate - Arrogant Worms/Captain Tractor

My sister forwarded me this chain-Rider-letter which has been making the rounds, and is as of yet still not attributed to the original writer:
Twas the night before Grey Cup, and all through the Dome,
Not a creature was stirring, but the gophers back home.
The players were nestled and snug in their beds,
While visions of Grey Cup Rings danced in their heads.
When out on the field, there arose such a clatter,
Kent sprang from his bed to see what was the matter,
Away to his window, he flew like a flash,
Threw aside the Green Curtains, and Silky White Sash.
And what did he see with his wondering eye?
But a sea of Green Revelers and a furry brown guy.
“That looks like Dominguez, and Flick and Fantuz!”
“Its way after curfew! Do they want us to lose??”
So, out of his room and down to the field,
Coach Austin stormed out with a fury to wield.
As he went through the tunnel, the ground shook with a beat,
From the dancing and prancing of ten thousand feet.
“Hey Coach,” cried a voice, “Whatcha doing down here?”
It was Szarka and Schultz, and they were handing out beer!
Chunky and Chick were grilling up Dogs,
With Burgers being served by O’Day and the Hogs.
Crandall cooked Hot Wings, Joseph grilled steak,
While Cates, Holmes, and Hughes helped Makowsky serve cake.
“This is nuts!” Austin shouted, “It’s one-thirty AM!”
“I expected some revelry, but this is mayhem!”
Eric Tillman tapped Austin, ” You’re not Eagle Keys -”
“But I’m not Berry, or Gotta, or Gregory — so PLEASE!”
“You’re all waddling around here like Wascana geese!”
“And in need of a dance coach like Donald Narcisse.”
“Now, you’ve all had your fun, so back to your rooms.”
But then Austin’s nose picked up the barbecue fumes.
Then Green Is The Color rang out through the air,
As Congi and Boreham played Banjos with flair.
On Davis, on Johnson, on Coach Ritchie Hall,
Even old Alex Smith flashed a smile after all,
On Lloyd, on McCullough, on Hunt and on Perry,
On Kornegay, Frazier, and yes, even Kerry.
The SkyDome then filled with a soft greenish glow,
And the whole Rider Nation set poised for a show.
An S and a wheat sheaf then formed in the air,
And a smile took the place of Coach Kent Austin’s glare.
Then everyone there, the players, the fans,
They formed a big circle by all holding hands,
Then right in the centre appeared the Grey Cup,
Which Fairholm and Ridgway and Elgaard picked up.
They handed it over to Ritchie and Kent,
Who called Kerry and Eddie, and off the Cup went.
It was passed round the field, past heroes to present,
While Gainer dug holes for the Blue Bomber Pheasants.
That music was heard coast to coast people say
And they say Rider Pride grew three sizes that day.
Everyone left there dreaming of Blue Bomber doom.
And they sent all the Banjos to Troy Westwood’s Room.
Here’s a bit of a feel good story about the Grey Cup. Being a sort-of pessimist, I’d like to see matching funds from the donors going to research for a cure as well. Perhaps most of the donors already do give in that way too. It’s nice to see results in the short term once in a blue moon (which is about as often as the Riders go to the cup, anyway).
You can have a chance to win prizes on Saskatchewan Weekend, thanks to their Grey Cup special. I phoned in, and flubbed my first attempt at leaving a message. So I phoned back and did it properly (I think). Now I might win the jacket. I could use a new one, so fingers crossed…

For Green Thumb Sunday, I should mention last weekend I took my friend who has a plasma TV (and is the site of our Grey Cup party) a spider plant baby. I can check up on it today, to see if he’s killed it like the last one ;-)
My tomato plant kicked the bucket this week, I think there wasn’t enough light in the daytime. I’ve rearranged things a bit, so the spider plant, and prickly pear are getting more window space.
Today, more than my thumb is green. I’m paintin’ the town Rider Green.
Go RIDERS!

“It’s just some fat guys running into each other,” Schultz said. “That hasn’t changed, just the venue has.”
- From TSN.ca
Wise words from the 295 pound Moose Jaw boy who is playing in the biggest game of the year, and his career so far. (The Chargers won the Super Bowl a few years ago right? Nope. Looks like Schultz will get a shot at his ring north of the border, with a better dollar now too :-)
The game starts at 5:00 PM CST for viewers on the prairie provinces with teams in the Grey Cup. Take that Calgary and Edmonton ;-)
- At least the homemade ‘Riders’ plate wasn’t damaged. I’m taking that as a good omen for the game Sunday.
The driver also left a note this time, after smashing into my parked car. The last driver to hit me while I was parked, didn’t have the guts to leave a note.
