New Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall admitted to the crowd that he was unaware that the flag pole outside of his office, and over the stairs leading into the Legislature, is reserved for when the Queen of Canada is visiting. I hope her Royal Highness is amused that a Roughrider flag autographed by the Grey Cup winning team is flying there. After all, Earl Grey was a representative of the Royal Family, so the winners of his cup have at least some claim to the special flag pole :-)

It’s too bad they closed the school down in Earl Grey (the town northwest of Regina). I think every time the Grey Cup was in the province it made a trip there. It was there the last time Regina hosted the big show. Of course now that the school is closed there is probably not much of a point in taking it out there since there will be no kids around.
Earl Grey was apparently named after the Governor (i think he was one?) stopped in town on a train ride and asked what the name of the town was. When the people said it had no name I believe he decreed it to be “Earl Grey”. This was in about 1905. Of course an old high school teacher / history shit disturber once dug around a bit and tried to discredit this, but no one knows for sure.
