Although it’s a foregone conclusion that the Sask Party will win the Saskatchewan election tomorrow night, I’d like to put my finger on the turning point in the campaign, and I can’t seem to do it.
Birkbeck has pointed out the NDP’s demise, but I can’t post a comment there asking this question.
When did the campaign turn on the NDP? And more importantly, did they ever lead it?
My answers are that the campaign got worse for the NDP from the moment they called it, but especially after their first announcement. I think they lost this election last November, when political opposition in the province were itching for the chance to vote.
It would have taken word that Brad Wall eats babies, and smokes marijuana while watching NFL football to lose him this election. Even then, he probably could have gotten away with baby eating had he said Lorne Calvert did the same.

Even with the nearly 3% margin of error, the Sigma poll on Nodice.ca suggests that Sask Party will have as many as 40 seats to ND’s 28 with Liberals and Green looking in from the outside of the leg again.

Brad Wall enjoys NFL football actually. And college ball and CIS and CFL, too. He coaches little league.
Brad Wall likes football.
I think what you meant was that if he _only_ liked NFL football.
Cheers,

Of course, it wouldn’t have hurt his cause that some people would still have gone out of their way to proclaim inevitable victory for Wall based on a faint hope of poaching a seat or two from the NDP in the process.

Out of my way? Heck, I’ve been waiting nearly 15 years for the NDP to lose.

You’re right Lance, I mean ONLY.

I get the feeling that the Sask Party would rather see two Liberals in the Leg. I would imagine that Karwacki and whoever else gets in would probably be a better Opposition, in the short run at least, than a demoralized NDP

The Sask Party is going all out to defeat Karwacki in Meewasin….a Liberal party in the Legislature is a bad thing for the SP as it will eventually bleed some of its base back to the centre (i.e. Libs). Of course the same goes for the NDP…
