I’m contemplating what I’ll do for next year’s garden. Since I live in an apartment building, I don’t have easy access to land that I can call my own. I think over my compost bin on the balcony, I’ll have a flower box with some flowers and spices or onions.
For the Winter I can see if I can keep some of my petunias alive indoors, in front of my north side windows. I found a nice wooden shelving unit that I think I’ll put in front of the patio door to get the most light.

I’m impressed that you have a compost box even as an apartment dweller! Do you take it in over winter or leave it outside? I would guess not too much composting takes place over winter if it were outside and frozen. Good luck with the petunias. I’ve never tried to overwinter them, though you could always collect their seeds and grow some more if they reached the end of their little petunia lives.

I just want to say how adorable it is of you to even be thinking of your petunias. I am proud of you Sasky…you are a real nice prairie boy.
Ps. how was your board game party on Sat.? I hope you and Ashley had fun!

Last Winter I left my compost outside to freeze solid. I think I’ll do the same this time, since I don’t think my composting technique is good enough, and I don’t have enough worms to vermicompost indoors without any smell.

The petunias didn’t go to seed, so I’ll see if they just keep growing over the winter or not.
The party was great, we played Loup-Garroue (Werewolves). Unfortunately Ashely wasn’t able to come, but we have another small party tomorrow to dress up for.
