On Monday I gave an interview to Mr. Jackle at “Ink” a publication for the UofR Journalism school. He was interested in new media, such as facebook, and how well blogging contributes to the democratic process. I’m going to look for it within the next month.
He asked for me to estimate how many blogs there are in Canada, and I said I couldn’t even begin to give an accurate guess without defining tricky parameters and possibly months of research. There are over 200 bloggers listed in Saskatchewan on the Sask Blogs Aggregator though.

The majority of blogs aren’t in aggregators though Saskboy, so that may be a poor indicator of Canadian blogs. Perhaps Technorati can answer? Or interviewing a combination of Blogger, Typepad, Wordpress, and Movable Type?

Interesting point, though: what’s a blogger? Is it someone who posts every day? Someone who writes about “important” things (whatever they are)? Someone with a set number of readers?

I know Aurelia, I didn’t mean to imply that it was a way to judge, just that it’s a sample of the most serious, who look to promote their blog.
Megan, the parameters are certainly fought over in blogging circles. Does someone need comments, or not?
