It might be a good idea to look at joining a class action lawsuit against cell phone providers. Turns out they’ve been charging a fee that the CRTC hasn’t been regulating away, and the fee probably hasn’t been going to what it was initially being charged for. Oops? The only downside is that the lawsuit is run by a Regina law firm known for, how shall I say it diplomatically… eagerly pursuing potential class action lawsuits. They committed a bit of a PR bungling by being awarded several million dollars to oversee the lawsuit against the government for Indian residential schools.

Overpricing? Yeah, I’d say so. I’ve always wondered how Chinese grocery women on the streets of Shanghai can have a cell phone with an income of $100 per year and we pay that in fees every two months.

I’ve never had a contract phone, but the last year I’ve used a pay as you go phone. Even those ones have a scam built into them, where they take away the time you’ve paid for if you don’t use it within two months, or if you don’t buy another $20 card in that span of time.
