Green Thumb Sunday - Tomato update ; Canadian Tire Money

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

My little tomato that could, is still growing. That surprises me, since it had been uprooted and plunked into a pot just a month ago. I doubt it will get much bigger, but I’m hoping it does.

Ashley made a funny Facestbook group. We were talking the other day after I realized that 1 Canadian Tire Dollar can buy more than one American Dollar at a Canadian Tire store. She got a great idea, and I hope if you use Facebook you’ll join her group and spread the word.

Adopt Canadian Tire money as the official American currency
At the time of writing, the Canadian Tire dollar is worth more than the American dollar. We believe that the Canadian Tire dollar is more likely to retain its value than the current American greenback.

Sask Liberals using video and campus outreach

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

David answers questions posted on the SaskLiberal.ca website.

The Sask Liberals have made an obvious attempt to court the young professionals in the province. They are the only party I’ve seen active on the UofR campus this semester.

They’ve also just released their plan to get Regina and the rest of the province caught up to other Canadian cities in regard to recycling. Curb side recycling should be standard in Canadian municipalities by now, so it’s good the Liberals are proposing it.

Right of Center Ice has already written up what I was going to say about the game.

The wind was strong and cold, and using my mom’s camera I’ve discovered that I will be upgrading to an Image Stabilizer Canon camera in the future, instead of sticking with my trusty (and worn out) 3MP Canon camera from 5 years ago.

-Kent has a bit of work to do with his team though. We gave up a lot of big plays, but came away on top… this time.

Tory Drug Strategy Already a Failure

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

If something isn’t working, do you put more money into doing more of it? If the war on drugs failed, why spend more money on another battle? An intelligent commander would order a new strategy, not throw more troops into no-man’s-land to fail on another charge.

Many other Progressive Bloggers have noticed the new Tory drug war plan, and recognize it will fail. I wish it could be successful, but I don’t ignore reality as well as Tony and Stockwell.

I figured I’d give the Blogging Tories list a stroll and see what they thought, but no one there is talking about this yet (from what I could see).

Joggler from Canada; Dollar from Canada too

Friday, September 28th, 2007

I can do that, I just can’t do it while running that fast. I can’t run that fast for that long either. I can also skate and juggle, or jump and juggle. World Record book here I come…

I was thinking today while looking inside my wallet at a $10 US bill, and a 10¢ Canadian Tire Money bill, and realized that my 10¢ Canadian Tire money is worth more than an American dime! How’s that for something to blow your mind?

I saw the Stephen Colbert wants Canada to pay royalties on the word “dollar”. Paid in Canadian currency naturally.

DAWN of a mission ; US border insecurity

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

I’m excited to hear a new ion drive is being used on a spacecraft destined to our solar system’s asteroid belt and some very important minor planets there. This drive has been around for a while now, and it kicks butt in my opinion.

Where’s the video of this on YouTube?

The Government Accountability Office, an investigative branch of the U.S. Congress, sent out investigators to test how hard it would be to transfer large red duffel bags at unguarded and unmonitored spots along the 8,000-kilometre border.

The tests were done from four northern states, which were not identified. The exercises were videotaped and photographed.

I found it interesting that no where in the AP report did they ask the Canadian government if they were aware of, or condoned, the testing along our border. And as for the conclusion of the report, I have “Well duh,” to say to it. Now stop freaking out Homeland Insecurity, and stop charging Canadians $5 or more to conduct simple business imports from your free trade country, and stop requiring us to buy ~$90 passports or stupid ID cards. They won’t help protect against your porous unmanned border points that will never be manned.
