China banning cars for a few days? This is an awesome test, but it would be even more interesting if it were all vehicles except odd numbered taxis and emergency vehicles, to further cut down the number operating.

Regina should charge a higher fee for developments, which if applied to only new lots outside of the city, would hopefully reduce urban sprawl. It’s a big shame that some of the best farm land in Canada is going to be eaten up by individual houses instead of by apartment buildings with a much smaller footprint.

You think China is bad now . . . wait till they build 600 more Coal-fired powere plants in the next few years. China increases their emissions output by a margin larger than our total output EVERY YEAR!!!
You are concerned about urban sprawl in Regina . . . they should be building apartment blocks . . . like the old soviet union did for the masses.
If the GW hypothisis was real we would not be doing the following . . .
Building 10’s of thousands of homes and commercial buildings in Canada.
Allowing 10’s of thousands of people to move from temperate, southern latitudes the northern latitudes where they create a carbon footprint a hundreds of times bigger.
The reality is . . . the air today is much cleaner in Regina than it was 40 years ago when most people were heating their homes with coal and wood.
Modern cars are 98% cleaner than those of 40 years ago.

Oh nooo, apartment buildings equals communism.
Oldschool, tell me how many cars are on the road today over 40 years ago, and I’ll take your stat seriously. Yes some of the pollution from the pipe is less bad, but when you simply add cars to make up for the loss in volume and toxicity of the gases emitted…

I missed the best part of your post! 98% eh? Impressive. Why, you could suck right from the tailpipe now, with that kind of improvement. What did you drive 40 years ago Oldschool? A Ford Fuminator?
