This is a very cool idea, and I found out about it through an email list at the University of Regina. You can use a car, but not “own” one. And you don’t have to rent either.

That is a cool idea. I doubt anyone from Global is reading this blog because they said they don’t read blogs :) but THIS would be a good story to cover. I’m sure they would get more people involved if everyone knew about it.

I’ve been a member of the Car co-op here in Vancouver (Co-operative Auto Network) for about a year now and I love it. I don’t own a car and get by just fine with public transit, my bike, and the car co-op.
Of course, size makes a big difference. The co-op here has over 2500 members and almost 200 cars scattered throughout the city, so finding a car nearby is usually pretty easy.
Good luck getting this going. I know the co-op here is usually pretty supportive if you need any questions answered.

I was part of a group that talked about doing this in Regina about 8 years ago, but some of the key people involved chickened out.

Jaybird, Global did show my video clip of the Rider game, but then again, we know a certain reporter likes to cover the Riders, but not bloggers ;-)
It happened to be through Youtube, or maybe CJME or Facebook that they heard of my video.
