I’ve returned from North Battleford Thursday, after a short (but not short enough) stop in Saskatoon first. I drove right by the washed out Highway 16 near Langham, and heard someone on John Gormley Live’s Bugsday the Hour of Rage complaining about how they didn’t prepare the drainage on that section of the road to avoid this disaster.

- The video had two honours a few days ago, for being something like the 70th most watched Sports video that day on YouTube. 6600 views of it on YouTube alone, not counting the unknown Facebook views.
The City of Regina now knows why the emergency lights didn’t go on automatically after a power failure at Taylor Field put 28,800 people into complete darkness.
The video has been played on quite a lot of media, which has surprised me. Thank you to anyone reading, that has passed along word of it being featured somewhere in the print/radio/TV/web media.
Blog Navel Gazing alert:
Here are a few blogs and media that have covered the blackout and mentioned or played my video clip (which I was lucky to get since the camera only takes 30 second clips, and there was no way I could have anticipated exactly when the blackout was about to strike (if it even was going to happen). A case of the right place, right time, with a camera :-D.
“This made the news last night on global” -Jhon
It sure must have because I got this in my email I didn’t read on Monday:
“Hi there. My name is [...] and I’m a photographer with Global here in Regina. We saw your footage from the Rider game on saturday and would like to use it in our newscast tonight (Monday, August 20). We were wondering if there is any way we could get the tape from you sometime today and dump off some of the footage? We would give the tape back immediately.”

“i think the commisioner of the CFL mentioned your video on Prime Time Sports tonight on Rogers Sports Net” - Ross
As I write this, the video is featured at the top of the page on local Rawlco radio station Z99.com:

If you were at the game, you know exactly what you are going to see. If you weren’t check out this vid of the lightning strikes and the power going out. Go Riders!!
