Security and Prosperity Partnership is the name of the secretive effort by Harper, Bush, and Mexican officials to integrate our countries so closely that economic autonomy is lost. This essentially means the end of Canada as a nation, and it isn’t even being made a primary topic in the House of Commons.
Days of action have been arranged, and they are approaching soon. Inform yourself about SPP, and why it’s a threat to not only Canadian independence, but also to our environment, resources, and thus the planet. Ask yourself why NAFTA isn’t enough for these sell outs, and who stands to gain the most from open access to Canada’s riches.

Lance, not surprisingly, disagrees.

Thank goodness someone else is concerned about this. Maybe we should all blog non-stop about it.

Over the next few days Susan, I’ll do my best to mention it. I’m sure there will be indignities performed to the people protesting it in Ottawa for us to cover.

Saskboy,
I’d suggest that Canadian economic autonomy has been lost for some time now, at least in any meaningful sense. There really is no Canadian national economy at all. Instead, our economy consists of a bunch of regional, mostly cross-border, economies which have little in common with one another. Since CAFTA the influence of the “border effect” on US/Canada trade has shrunk dramatically.
The SPP certainly has some problems with it – transparency being a big one, but also some specific aspects such as intelligence sharing, food safety etc. But it isn’t overly ambitious in terms of new integration proposals. Economically speaking, that ship has sailed.

Sorry I missed the meeting. An issue with transparency is different than a full media blackout. Lowering pesticide levels acceptible in our food is only part… committing Canadian soldiers to police US cities, delivering to the CIA personal information on Canadians without warrents or probable cause, and eventually the abandonment of the Canadian dollar for the Amero.
America is involved in an illegal invasion and occupation (not to mention the miriad of dictatorships supported by the CIA), kidnapping and torture with no legal recourse whatsoever, and the weaponizing of space. We shouldn’t be integrating our countries, we should be developing strategies to reassert our own sovereignty.
