Mosaic in Regina is 40 years old

Last night when I went to post this blog entry, my web server wasn’t responding. So here it is delayed a day and with more pictures as a result.

I was at a few of the pavilions for the 2007 40th Mosaic culture festival in Regina Friday night. The Caribbean site had a fire eater, and the Laotian site had a mock sword fight. The festival is on for another two nights, today included.

- Costa Maragos of CBC Regina evening news, watching the Greek presentation. On our way out of the building, he happened to be the person holding the door for me.
The Greek music was enjoyed by Ashley, but the volume was enjoyed by no one. There was probably a reason the only empty table was front and center, where we happened to sit and be deafened — people sitting too close to the speaker probably exploded. The Laotian volume was too loud, and the building too small for the crowd they let in. The Irish music was a pretty reasonable volume, as was the Kiev Ukranian, and Italian. And the free bus wasn’t as well advertised in the passport booklet as I think it should have been, since parking was $3 at the Ipsco Place even though the parking lot would never have filled up. Even the blood thirsty University of Regina didn’t charge for parking at the India pavilion.
