Fraser Institute report a traitor’s document

Some highlights (or rather lowlights) of the report by Tory Harris and Reform Manning:
“~Government has no place in the decision-making of Canadian consumers, importers, or exporters.”

If a company wants to import poison wheat gluten and use it in your cat’s food, it’s certainly not the job of the government to have regulations against that free choice, like duh, come on!

“~The tradition of subordinating bilateral cooperation with the United States to the broader North Atlantic Alliance is no longer sustainable.

~If Canadians wish to contribute to global peace and security they can only do so effectively as partners with the United States.”

I just can’t imagine Canada having a self sustainable military. After all we looked to the USA for guidance in WWI, WWII, and what to do about Vietnam and Iraq.

Their conclusions are fricken brutal. And that’s a scientific term in this case.

In looking for some Conservative analysis of the Traitor Paper from the Fraser Institute, I found this on the side of Bloggingtories.ca:

Fraser Institute - News
Canada must reduce trade and ownership barriers, integrate economy with U.S., say Manning and Harris

So I guess I’ll have to wait for Conservative Canadians to independently express their outrage over their former leaders telling us to surrender to United States control without ever firing a shot.

To be clear, I think we should improve export and import business with the US and Mexico. But that does not mean becoming a state under their military control. The US has made moves in the past years to weaken trade with Canada, including requiring recreational visitors to have expensive passport identification. This has hurt tourism and cross border shopping, as well as further defined a border the Fraser Institute feels should not even exist. What’s wrong with this picture? The States are putting up walls to Mexico (literally), and red tape at the 49th Parallel, and Manning and Harris figure that’s an invitation to roll over and kill our sovereignty because the States are willing to receive us and treat us as equals. They are clearly insane.

Scott feels the same way I do it seems.

In other news that would improve Canada’s representative democracy, Steve V. has an excellent idea that would temporarily house government in Western Canada. Think of it as a cross country exchange of ideas, and practice for the government should Ottawa ever become unsuitable as the seat of government.
