Given that 2 of the six major auto plants in Ontario are Toyota and Honda (with Toyota building a 3rd) and lots of people drive Toyotas and Hondas, Buzz is a little off target here.

Oh.. no wait a minute, consumers are buying vehicles from non-unionized plants that never go on strike and otherwise disrupt the economy. Now I know why he's upset.

Whooee! Howcum, us GPC members don't get letters askin' fer dough so's the party can run bigass TV commercials, even when there's no election happenin'?
$75 to get a TV ad to 14,000 viewers sounds cheap. Maybe I oughta start advertisin' my boog on TV.

I was left scratching my head as well when I heard Mr. Hargrove raving about people not buying North American made cars, specifically those made in Canada, in addition to his crying about both the Ontario and Federal governments musing about legislating tough emission standards on all new cars.

I think he was also pushing the federal government to force the Asian market to accept North American cars, as apparently they don't even allow them in (nor does the EU).

Ummm, Buzz maybe instead of trying to drag your feet on implementing tough emission standards you should be pushing for a proactive approach from the Big 3 automakers to actually make cars people want to buy (you know, reliable, fuel efficient and durable). There is a reason why Toyota is #1 in North America and why this blogger would never buy a North American made car.....

SB
I agree that the Liberals, Dippers and Tories don't have a lick of difference beyond rhetoric in the environment portfolio but I can't imagine that Dion needs to concern himself about how he will be remembered. Within days of the next federal election (unless he wins a majority) he will be long knived, skewered and quartered and hopefully Martha, Gerard or someone from outside the old guard can seize the leadership. Maybe we will see four new federal leaders after the next election.
