I’ve been recently picking on the federal NDP, so I might as well give a well deserved kick to the provincial bunch. Here’s a summary of how the NDP is tearing down rural Saskatchewan one school at a time, in an apparently deliberate way. It’s not like they don’t have people telling them how their amalgamations, and service closures are huge follies. So what’s their excuse really, other than bold apathy expressed to people living outside of Regina and Saskatoon?
I do believe that Tommy would be at the head of the political movement to get rid of this government. It seems to me that his history was one attacking the very ills I’ve illustrated, but now is been imposed on us by his successors.
The fact that this government is accelerating its destructive desires on such a large portion of its population is undeniable and I had hoped that some of the political whiz kids within the governing party would be suggesting a different course of action. Instead we seem to be getting an acceleration of the destruction. Who would have believed such folly would have continued even leading up to an obvious election.
And yes, as a bit of a disclaimer, the above quote was written by my Dad.

The Saskatchewan! with an exclamation point “campaign” is going to cost us more than a million dollars, and as the Sask Party justly points out, the last time there was a campaign of this nature launched within the very province we’re supposed to be encouraging people to move and do business in, it was also an election year. Oh NDP, is there any folly you can’t make?
It reminds me not only of The Future Is Wide Open flop, but of the Manitoba Spirited Energy rebranding. I guess it’s a feature of both unions like SGEU and CUPE, that the NDP thinks they should throw advertising at something to make a problem go away. I wonder what the driving force for rebranding was in Manitoba last year? I know they also have an NDP government.
I should maybe note that I’m a fan of the Land of Living Skies license plate [re]branding by SGI many years back, and the centennial was very well done too.
Sorry Andrew, I don’t think ads have the effect you say they do. Ads have to be pretty darn good to make most people feel good about the product they are selling. And some people hate all advertising as a matter of principle.
When I see ads for unions, on TV, a billboard, or on a poster, it makes me wonder why. Why is the ad there, and why are they paying for it? Sometimes they make me remember strikes, and lost services. Rarely do they make me self reflect, “You know, I haven’t hugged a union person today.” Don’t get me wrong, I think unions are needed in workplaces, but the management of unions leaves me scratching my head most days.
If you want to “rebrand” Saskatchewan, just put billboards in Toronto with pictures of lakefront property from SK, and subtitle them with:
“Muskoka? No. Saskatchewan!
$200,000?! No, $100,000.”
The government can have that one for free. The next time, I want the $1 Million that just went into the #@$@! void!

Not raging, just emphatic :-) The difference is that I’m smiling while I’m emphatic.

‘Rebranding’ seems to be the latest thing. Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland (minus the and) Labrador, and Memorial University (no longer of Newfoundland). All uninspired logos, if you ask me.

Exactly SkylarKD, and don’t get me started on the rebranding of sports stadiums, GRRRRRR!
