Anonymos,
Your comments come across as extremely ignorant of the situation of sex workers. To which "homes" do you propose we ship Canadian single mother sex workers to?

There are several countries in Europe where prostitution is legal, but they don't walk the streets. Taking prostitutes off the streets and having prostitution regulated would undoubtedly make everyone safer. I don't know for certain, but I imagine it might help to fight child prostitution as well, because it would be more visible, maybe, since underage people wouldn't be allowed to work as prostitutes by law...

Innocent Bystander, the ramifications of the current legislation have been seen for decades, and I think the people bringing the lawsuit could best address your concerns by explaining the severe troubles sex workers experience these days. Like the black market for drugs, the illegal sex trade creates a black market for sex, where women are the victims of not only poverty and often drug addiction, but also physical abuse from pimps and johns, and no legal recourse because "they are involved in 'crime'". It gives them almost no way out if the either get pushed or pulled into the life. That's the ramification we should seek a means to ending.

I wonder, will making prostitution legal take the "sheen" off the bang for the buck for many married men hooking up on the side?
Will legalizing sex for money outside the home have an impact on families? Does sex outside of home already have an impact on families? Conversely, does sex in the home equate to any monetary value?
If every Tom, Dick, Harry and Sally who want sex and have the bucks to go out ang get some become the norm, will sex become overrated? Will sex become just another thing to be bought and sold on the open market? Will legalizing bought sex make it dirty somehow?
The ramifications of this legislation haven't been delved into in any meaningful way.
