I guess partisanship is more important to the Conservatives than voting for an NDP motion to, among other things, remove the “gold-diggers” clause hanging over veterans’ heads. The clause takes a pension away from the spouse of a veteran after he passes away. How can they seriously think that the public could buy the line that they “need to study pension changes more”, when they campaigned on changes to the pension scheme? Let me guess, they’ll be ready in 2050 to give proper pensions to WWII vets and their spouse?
“We said his words and put it in a motion and [Prime Minister Stephen] Harper stood up and voted against his own words,” said Stoffer.
