As I noticed yesterday after catching a “Censored” blog comment from Rod Pedersen, the voice of the Roughriders, Gainer has been barred from the Calgary Stampeders’ home field for the playoff game this Sunday against the Riders. Alberta may be the rat free province, but I didn’t know they banned gophers too. And so, on Halloween 2006, Saskatchewan is buzzing with the news that their most famous costumed celebrity, has been barred from Calgary. First they’ll ban our larger than life-sized gophers from Saskatchewan, then they’ll start forbidding people from Saskatchewan to work in Calgary!

I heard that Jenna Holbrooke formerly of CJME, has gone to The Fan station instead, and said that Burris had nothing to do with banning Gainer. The radio is calling this situation “GainerGate”. Hillarious!

IT figures that SDA which features a dead gopher at the top of its site, has weighed in on the controversy. The politicians have too, one pointing out the Riders can’t win a Grey Cup while the NDP are in power.

Who the hell do they think they are….pathetic and i am sorry but i am soooo sick of watching Henry BOOHOO Burris running after the refs all the time trying to whine about the calls….every game, you watch. This Sunday…I bet it happens 5 times….
on the other hand…Go Riders, heres hoping we get to take Gainer to BC in 2 weeks!

Gimme a break Ralph Klein. What a pathetic excuse for barring Gainer from the sidelines. It’s not the gopher you should have feared, it was the Rider Fans and the Roughriders themselves. If I had my way, I’d have issued Gainer masks to all of the Saskatchewan Fans who attended (and believe it or not some Albertans who ARE Saskatchewan Fans), so that would have been all you could see. We love our mascot - beats watching a horse with a flag riding around the stadium. At least our mascot gets involved. Maybe we should find a girl gopher, and send her and Gainer over to your field to reproduce. Gawd it would drive you guys nuts. But then, we don’t have to go through all that - You’re out of the Playoffs aren’t you, and it wasn’t Gainer who was the cause. Kinda makes you think doesn’t it?

Yeah, Alberta is done in the CFL this year. That hasn’t happened before the Finals for quite some time now.
