I got a comment last week asking me for more photos of water towers that I’ve taken over the years. You can help Mark build his website too.

Would it be [asking too] much if you would put on your site a note about the importance of cataloguing all Canadian water towers and standpipes? It would help me immensely if they would send me images of their local tower or of those taken when travelling. If possible, images should be sent as an email attachment, uncropped and in .JPG format.

No problem Mark, glad to help. I’m not sure how “important” it is, but it certainly is interesting. And if you search for “Semens” on my site, you should find a water tower picture from that town too. Come to think of it, Kelvington’s tower might be somewhere as well. And almost certainly Kamsack’s too.

Neat idea. Too bad I don’t have any. You have a picture of the old water tower in Yorkton or was that before your time Saskboy?

The only one I know of is the big cement one that looks like a flashlight they have now.

The old tower was built in 1930. The new one was completed in the fall of 1999. For a few weeks they were standing side by side. The City of Yorkton provided me with a picture which was added to my website and can be seen at http://www.eureka4you.com/wtower-sk-y/Yorkton.htm

I lived in Yorkton when they brought down the old tower. Was a big story in town at the time. Too bad they tore it down, would have been an interesting part of the skyline to still have them both standing.
