Moose Jaw Police took a beating on John Gormley Live Tuesday morning. They didn’t announce that a dangerous pedophile was “vacationing” in their city. Some vigilantes put up posters with incorrect information regarding the location of the convicted offender who was looking for a new city to live in. Police put him on a bus back to B.C. Some people shot up a window they thought was near the sex offender. People are unhappy and are justifiably afraid of this monster [and the stupid vigilantes].
Why is our society fretting over whether or not to inform the public when there is a convicted and uncured sex predator loose? This particular guy had attempted to evade detection by using fake ID, and refused treatment in jail. There is no good reason to be letting these repeat offenders out of jail. Judges and prosecutors are not doing their job, since I’m fairly certain laws allow sentences of many years for people who forcibly confine children, and take pornographic photos of them. Yet he had sentences lasting just months, for separate offenses!

Not to mention that nothing beyond the regular court proceedings has happened since the events this summer. And even those have been a gong show so far.
It’s about time the legislators in Saskatchewan and Canada began doing something about the issue of pedophiles. Maybe you’re right, more tme needs to be spent on procecuting these people, maybe more needs to be done to legistlate mandatory treatment, maybe longer prison sentences.
Whatever the solution, something needs to be done to protect our children and the people who we have elected and we pay to make rules to protect them are not doing their jobs.

I can’t understand why our legal system allows trials and even pre-court hearings to drag on months. What is the reason for backing up justice such a long time. We complain about the wait times for healthcare, but the waiting time for justice is just as bad I see.
The Tory 3 strikes law might work to keep some of these criminal nuts out of society, but what about the situation where someone murders 3 people in one drunk driving incident? Does each death count as a murder sentence, and thus make them eligible for dangerous offender status? I think the law shouldn’t work that way, instead reserving non-forgiveness for criminals who are given some time to change their ways and either fail or don’t try.

“reserving non-forgiveness for criminals who are given some time to change their ways and either fail or don’t try.”
exactly. but i’m not sure i would be nice enough to give certain people 3 tries.
