Exactly TTT, anything is fuel. A more valid restriction is cell phones because they always contain an explosive part, whereas liquids are most often benign. CfSR, I agree that some jobs are vampires, but we don't have to give up any more conveniences to be secure on an airplane.

It's most likely they won't allow anything onboard except people with clothes, and a wallet, passport, and medical/baby supplies. They'll sell you a USB keyboard to work with the screen/computer in the seat, and you can read Fox News and CNN on their stale or satellite Internet feed. Planes still will be bombed through a different means, or maybe terrorists will stop going after the hardended target and reailze there is a line of captive people in an airport, and you can just drive right up... like duh?

I understand the liquids (can hide liquid explosives) and electronics (can detonate said explosives) but books? That one I don't get. Are they considered fuel? But then ultimately everything is fuel on a plane.

As someone who travelled frequently in a previous job and carried all of the communications toys, I can live with having to check them in my suitcase.

If there is a legitimate, even relatively remote, threat that such equipment can be used to detonate a bomb as a carry on, make me check it.

My boss is going to have to learn that flying time is NOT work time.

I can live with that.

I hope one day, tho, to have a book or a newspaper.

Even better, A book and a newspaper.
