- Everyone loves a joke about passing gas, right?

Might I suggest to the fine people of Saskatoon, that if more of you cycled, walked, or took the bus to work, not only would you arrive in the same time, but you’d ease traffic worries for people that must drive? I know several people in Saskatoon who bike to work or school, and when I lived there, I biked from Sutherland to the north end of campus every workday without any problem. It’s a pretty nice city to bike through mostly, and the more people who do it, the more likely cars will begin to respect cyclists rights on the road.

Although I agree more people should be using their bikes and means other than vehicles for transportation, Saskatoon really doesn’t have that bad of a traffic problem. It has more of a construction problem in that the city has decided that it would be best to do the work during the day, instead of at night when the load on the roads is light.

Saskatoon’s traffic is bad compared to Regina traffic. The freeway is narrower in parts and has more aggressive drivers on it than the Ring Road in Regina too in my experience.
Road workers are employees that might be entitled to lots more pay by working into the dusk hours, that’s probably a major consideration. I agree with the Mayor that people just have to put up with it, or find a better way [and bike].

About ten years ago I spent $1200.00 on a bike, (TREK 6500 and the extras, with tax, it was close to 1200) many people said I was nuts. I saved enough in parking and fuel in the first year to pay for it. Plus, you can have a few beers and not worry about losing your license on the way home. It is hanging on my garage wall now, I don’t get to use it as much as I use too, it’s not very practical with two kids, but you are totally right on this one, and I usually don’t agree with you on much.

Thanks for commenting Trent, and glad you agree this time. Please comment when you don’t agree, I enjoy feedback especially if it isn’t from a yes-man.
