Stephen Glauser and I have been discussing the possibility of us Saskatchewan Bloggers getting together this summer. We’ve come up with a basic itinerary that is pretty much open to discussion:
July 22, 2006 Saturday - Regina
We would start out at about 1pm with a barbecue in Wascana Park. Kids, and Everyone of course, will be welcome. After the barbecue we could head to the Rider game (if enough people express interest, Stephen might be able to line up some discounted tickets). After that we could all head out for supper, or do another BBQ and then head out to a pub for some drinks.
The option of a Saskatoon meet has also been discussed, but we would like to have one big meet as opposed to two large ones, but we’ll see what everyone has to say. Saskatoon dates that have been discussed include June 17 and August 19.

Bad weekend. July 20 to 22 is Moose Jaw’s Festival of Words and Margaret Atwood is headlining. As well, John Ralston Saul, Sharon Butala, and Myrna Kostash, the Arrogant worms and some fine poets are there this year. The list of presenters is here.
I like the August date, though, Regina or S’toon.

Hey, I saw you left a comment about the get together at my cousin Megan’s site ( Aequitas - Veritas @ minnie2shoes.blogspot.com) She’ll be at my brother’s wedding July 22nd also, so won’t be able to go. However, if there is one in Saskatoon on August 19, I plan to make her and her boyfriend (seansaskatchewan.blogspot.com) come, even if it means dragging them there kicking and screaming! :)

I’m in for the Regina meet, and let me know about Riders tickets. I think it would be a blast to sit in the same section as a bunch of other bloggers - we could get press attention for this, you know (says the marketing person). Oh. And it’d be me, Mr. cenobyte, and the two little cenobytes (under 10). No cenocats though - they’re too stupid.

Expect more details on July 22 in Regina later this weekend, and then we’ll start making a list for people who want to sit in a group at the Rider game, and another for any food plans we might set for the afternoon [and alternate plans to eat, if it rains hard].
Saskatoon is looking like August 19, but we have no plans in place, so suggestions for events or locations are welcome. The Air Show is that weekend, as are several racing events, and the city Centennial [Thursday] I think I noticed too.

Stephen Glauser and I are working on a website this weekend to provide event details, and a list where people can RSVP to let us know which parts they’d like to attend. So far we’ll provide suggestions for what people can do after the BBQ if they don’t want to go to the football game with the group, and after the football we can meet at the Cathedral Freehouse pub and eatery on Albert St. I phoned the Freehouse, and they said children are allowed at all but a few tables.

I’ll do my best to attend; what a great idea! I’m only a maybe at this point because this will be just before I take 6 weeks of holidays and I usually have to work straight through the weekends for a couple of weeks just to get everything in shape before I go.
